Lima Carpet was started by Gordon Whelpton in 1967, out of his home in Lima, New York. The business soon outgrew it's home garage and a large motor home he called "the showroom on wheels" where he kept samples. Due to many referrals by satisfied customers, Gordon's name and reputation grew and in the mid-70's he opened his first storefront showroom...

In the mid-80's Gordon needed a larger showroom and warehouse to accommodate his thriving business. He moved to the neighboring community of Avon where he set up shop in Avon Town Plaza. The name of the business thereafter expanded to Lima Carpet of Avon.

Over the years, under the ownership of Gordon, Lima Carpet has developed a reputation for honesty and hometown service. In 1997 Gordon retired and sold his business to his son-in-law and daughter, Todd and Renné Wenner. The second generation continues the fine tradition of quality that the public has come to expect from Lima Carpet.

Renné (now president) has always had an interest in color and design and after high school went to a local college to sharpen her natural skills for interior design. Renne has been instrumental in expanding the interior design aspect of Lima Carpet and works in the store as the interior design professional.

Todd Wenner (Vice President) came to work for Gordon in 1985. Gordon trained Todd extensively in all aspects of floor covering and now with 18 years of experience as a flooring technician, Todd is well-known for his expert installing ability.

Renne's father, Gordon Whelpton, started doing business as Lima Carpet in 1967.  Gordon grew his business based on honesty, integrity and expertise.  Renne and Todd (her husband and co-owner) took over the business in 1997 and have continued to uphold the same philosophy and outstanding reputation.  They are committed to the community and determined to make sure each customer is treated like family in a comfortable, pressure free atmosphere.

Renne helps guide clients through the design process of selecting the right colors, the right styles and the right products to fit the specific needs of each client.  From doctor's offices and large commercial jobs to custom built homes and remodels of all sizes, Renne has the ability to tailor design any area.  She continues to increase and update her design knowledge by receiving training in the latest colors and trends in fashion and design.  Renne provides personalized service through in-home design consultations to help make your home uniquely you.  She beleives the design process should be fun as well as functional.

Renne and Todd have three children:  Brittany, Levi and Landon.  Renne enjoys horseback riding and spending time with friends and family.

Todd, originally from Pennsylvania, moved to the Avon area in 1986.  He was trained in flooring installation by Lima Carpet's original owner, Gordon Whelpton.  Todd quickly became a lead installer being proficient in carpet, hardwood, ceramic tile and viny.  Over the last 24 years Todd's skill and expertise has greatly increased.  Due to his master craftmanship, many customers still insist that he install their floor.  In 1997 Todd and his wife, Renne, took over th efamily owned and operated business.

Under their ownership, Lima Carpet has continued to evolve as a business developing new services, expanding product lines and remaining current with the ever changing flooring trends.  In 2006, Todd and Renne had an attractive new building constructed to house an expanded inventory and a beautfiul new showroom.  Todd is a down to earth man that enjoys talking with customers and making sure the job is done right.  He and his wife live in Rush, NY with their three kids (2 horses, 2 dogs, 1 cat, chickens, turtles and fish).  He enjoys playing golf and basketball, is a die hard Philadelphia sports fan (Go Eagles, Phillies and 76ers!) and likes hanging out with his friends and family.

Brittany is the granddaughter of Gordon Whelpton, the original owner of Lima Carpet, and is the eldest child of the current owners, Todd and Renne Wenner.  She was "raised" in the family business and has grown up learning about flooring and getting to know the customers in the community.  While still in high school, Brittany began working part time at Lima Carpet in customer service.  Since that time she has received extensive training and certifications in product knowledge, design and sales.  Brittany is an outgoing and very friendly person.  She is always eager to help customers and willing to go the extra mile to make sure they pick the right floor.  Brittany is currently working part time at Lima Carpet, going to school to get her Registered Nursing License and also spending 17 - 20 hours weekly in a volunteer ministry.  Brittany enjoys traveling, bike riding, jogging and spending time with friends.  She lives at home with her parents and two younger brothers.

Ann Marie was born and raised in Avon and attended Avon Central Schools.  Ann has known the original owner and the current owners of Lima Carpet all her life.  She began working for Lima Carpet in 1996 in customer service.  After traveling extensively for several years and living abroad, she moved back to the area with her husband, Jose.  In 2007, Ann Marie received comprehensive training in product and design from Mohawk University and returned to Lima Carpet as the Office Manager.  Ann Marie has a knack for conversing with people of all different backgrounds and is fluent in Spanish.  She has fun helping people select colors and designs for their home and is committed to making sure our customers are 100% satisfied.  She enjoys cooking and baking and sings in a band.  Ann Marie and Jose now live in Pittsford with their newborn daughter, Indiana.

Melissa is the daughter of the original owner of Lima Carpet, Gordon Whelpton.  She began installing with her father when she was 15 years old.  Under his training, Melissa learned to install all kinds of floors including carpet, tile, laminate, vinyl and hardwood.  For the last 29 years, Melissa has stayed busy as an installer.  In recent years she has become a specialist at ceramic and porelain tile installation.  Melissa has an amazing eye for detail and is able to install even the most intricate and complex designs on floors, walls and back splashes.  She is passionate about her work and has many repeat customers requesting her to install their tile.  In addition to installing, Melissa does a large portion of our estimating and also works in the store in customer service.  She is friendly and knowledgeable and her expertise and experience make her an invaluable part of the Lima Carpet family.  Melissa currently lives in LeRoy and enjoys spending time with her two children, Aubrey and Dalton, riding her bike, playing golf, tennis and volleyball.
