Frequently Asked Questions
What makes a good quality carpet? The density, the twists of the fibers, and the thickness is what determines the quality of carpet. Density refers to how tightly packed the fibers are. As far as twists are concerned, the tighter the better. The thickness is the ounce weight of the pile. A combination of density, twist, and thickness determines the quality of the carpet.
Do carpets come with any stain treatments? Yes. Almost all carpets are treated with some sort of stain resister (Scotchgard, Stainmaster, etc.), at manufacturing. Keep in mind, even though a carpet is stain resistant, no carpet is completely stain proof.
What do warranties cover? Stain warranties are usually limited to food stains, that are not heat set. Wear warranties ensure that your carpet will not pack down more than 10% per year. The chances of having to file a claim on your warranty is very slim. They are there to give you the assurance that you are buying a quality product. For the most part, if you feel that your carpet is doing something that is abnormal, you need to let us know.
How do I calculate the amount of carpet needed?
As of January 2000,carpet’s official measurement changed from square yards to square feet, Though confusing at first, customers are getting used to the system.
When priced by the foot, carpet prices appear very inexpensive. To minimize confusion when comparing prices, compare the costs for a complete installation not just the carpet price alone.
Square-foot pricing makes it easier to compare carpet to other types of flooring. Purchasing upgrades may cost you just pennies more per square foot then you expected.
Bring Lima Carpet your measurements and layout. Since carpet comes in both 12 and 15 foot widths, the salesperson may have to add additional footage to accommodate seams in larger-size rooms.
